158 batches failed out of a total of 4985 total batches what is the percentage of failure and how did you get the number? :confused:

% = the number you're looking for divided BY the whole;

In your case the 'whole' was 4985 and you were looking for the % that failed.
158 failed. So, 158 divided BY 4985 = .031695 and THEN multiply by 100 to get percent, per 100, so, 158 (what you're looking for) divided BY 4985 (the whole, what you're looking for OUT of) then times 100 to express as per cent.

3.1695%

Next, we do area of a circle... :lol:
