Two Blind Men Receive Sight

Matthew 20:29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”

34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

It seems these days that it's not cool to talk about Jesus in public. At work a friend of mine and I talk about the Bible very often. We talk about Bible Study, this thread, and the mini-series, instead of talking about recipes, family or other daily conversational items. We really enjoy it and we learn from each other. Sometimes we have to stifle the conversation because we don't want to bother some of the other employees or the bosses.

The two blind men here didn't let the crowds stifle their prayers. When they were told to quiet down [which I totally don't understand] they yelled even louder.

And things haven't changed since those days Jesus roamed the earth. He wasn’t regarded as cool then as He was crucified for being who He was. Sometimes I wonder what it was (and is) that people are so turned off about with Jesus. Are folks uncomfortable with the thought of having to adhere to a ‘straight and narrow’ life, and that looking Jesus forces them to look at themselves, and they don’t like what they see? Or is it just that folks find the whole Jesus experience too impossible to believe? I happen to believe it’s the former. I think when people are confronted with such pure morality it forces them to evaluate their lives in that light and it makes them uncomfortable.

John the Baptist spoke out against that immorality and lost his head.

John wrote about the future of the church in Revelations and people don't read the book because it's too far out or hard to understand.

The Jews had God with them on a daily basis [a pillar of smoke during the day and a pillar of fire by night] and He even fed them daily [manna] but they wanted more [the story of the pheasants].

Jesus was tempted.... turn the rocks into bread [food], throw yourself from the roof of the temple and call the angels to save you [health], and worship me and I'll make you great [wealth].

People have a really short attention span.... we lust after money, time, and power.... those all point to one direction....

The fight between good and evil.... it's painted with gorgeous sunrise and slick lies.... Faith is believing in the invisible and sin is sensual....

With the churches fighting among themselves, the word is not getting out there the way it use to when we recited a Bible verse every morning at school and gathered at the local church every Sunday.

People just don't Fear the Lord anymore.... we're blinded by greed, lust, and sensuality.....

That's how I see it anyway....
