...poll and commentary.

The 'word' is that Mac wants to pick Ridge or Liebermann and that he doesn't think the religious right will be able to stomach Obama/Pelosi/Reid and hold their noses and vote for him.

The 'safe' pick is Romney.

That seems to be the three and this does not seem to be a year of surprise as the long time favorite, Biden, did in fact get picked.

To date, Obama has got NOTHING about of picking the 'safe' guy unless the flat polls indicate if nothing else that Biden stopped the Obama collapse. So, picking Romney doesn't seem like much of a good idea. The underlying argument is he brings Michigan to McCain which I don't get, at all. He's from there, but, damn, Biden has been in Delaware for what, 40 years and Gore, for example, couldn't even win the state he is not only from but actually served as well. So, not seeing the Romney pick.

Liebermann and Ridge are both pro choice.

Liebermann signals the end to the Bush III desperation on the part of Obama. It doesn't make sense anyway and picking a guy who was thrown out of the Democrat party would be the last straw. This would be the most 'maverick' pick and a strong national defense ticket.

Ridge was a successful big governor who cut taxes is against gay marriage and does hold out the prospect of actually winning a state that matters and that he is popular in, PA. He also served in the ARMY and was DHS boss. So, he has executive experience and big time bureaucratic experience.

Ridge looks like the best choice because unlike Joe he is very much a traditional, right leaning GOPer other than being pro choice.

Edit; Army, not Navy.
