I 100% agree with you. This is putting profits over people. Which is what a lot of folks on this forum argue is the sole purpose of business, profits over people.

Now, the question is what can/should be done about it?

You said that you think it's an abuse of the program. It most likely is not the intent of the program, but legal under the program. Do you think there would ever be congressional desire to change this given that way business influences our Government?

Question: Is the sole answer a boycott of McDonald's? Or can/should other measures be taken?

Step one, stop electing politicians. It that creature has served more than say eight years, don't vote for them. Ever. And I say creature because I truly believe that like the One Ring, political power corrupts everyone, and all of us are Humans, not Hobbits. this is an abuse of the system, no doubt. Legal but wrong. When I went to Canada a few years back, the company that had contracted us had to provide sworn statements that there were no Canadians that could do the work we were doing. And we had to attest to that upon entry into Canada.

It's not bigoted and racist to protect your citizens jobs. It's part of a nations job, actually.

Hobbits! Both in the book and in the movie, I note that Frodo was not able to throw the One Ring into the frickin lava. He was able to bear the burden longer, but at the end, like the other races, he wasn't able to complete the job.

Well, it was a ring designed to allow the wearer to control immortal beings of vast power, so he did damn well. The frailty of mortal beings, maybe? Maybe Tolkein just wanted to end the tragedy of Gollum in a way that gave him some redemption?

AT&T has done it as well.
