$100 Million Lawsuit Filed Over Brutality Case

"A police officer and the City of Baltimore face a $100 million lawsuit filed by a man who says he was sexually assaulted.

Adam May reports Steven Vernarelli claims he was walking to Johns Hopkins Hospital in October, when he was stopped for no reason and sodomized with his own paper money by a Baltimore City police officer. "

That's just sick. My uncle was a cop and it burns me up when guys like that go around giving police a bad name. I hope they shove his badge up the appropriate orifice.

How do you feel about the guys in Gitmo.

I mean you have already tried and convicted this police officer without trial or hearing all the evidence. Dont you think maybe he deserves the opportunity to at least tell his side of it?

I felt the same way until I read the story. He may or may not have commited the assault he's being sued for, but it does look like he's a crooked cop and at least deserves his assault charge.

I can't think of any scenario where it would be allowable, by law, for a police officer to sodomize someone...

If the ID folks were setting up an undercover investigation of this guy I'm sure he was not Andy Taylor if you know what I mean.

Crooked cops errode the communities trust in law enforcement and make it that more difficult for the majority good guys to do their jobs.

I admit it sounds bad, but he is entitled to a hearing, most everywhere but in this forum I guess.

 That's like saying that Bin Laden is not a terrorist because he hasn't been convicted. He's entitled to a presumption of innocence in the court system. The general public is not obligated to give him any such benefit.

He did commit an assault. The only thing left is the technicality of getting him convicted.

When presented with enough evidence, and intelligent person can form an opinion. We don't have to wait for the courts to convict in order to believe he's a bad cop. Likewise, if his lawyer gets him off on a technicality, we don't have to believe he didn't do it.
