MD Political Parties

I received a letter today from the St. Mary's County Board of Elections stating that the Libertarian Party of MD is no longer recognized by the State. It gave me five options to affiliate with another party. Those five are:

1. Democrat
2. Republican
3. Bread and Roses
4. Unaffiliated
5. Other Party.

My party has been changed to "Other-Libertarian".

So my question was who/what is the Bread and Roses party? Well here they are... a self-identified Socialist party.

I would guess that the Libertarians didn't do their due diligence by registering or something where some retard from Bread and Roses was all over that.

Pretty sure it is a standard built into the law to require a party to have registered members in excess of 1% of the counted vote in the previous election to automatically recertify, failing that they must file a petition with 10,000 registered voters.

Sure they are - it's their party platform.

I can say with an obnoxious amount of certainty that supporting legalization of drugs does not mean one partakes.

I can also say with the same amount of certainty that being a Libertarian does not automatically make you hate cops.

Pretty sure there should be no parties, just people who run for office.

To clarify, the parties surely may exist, but government should not pick and choose, or even officially recognize (for ballot purposes) political parties.

I understand why the state doesn't allow just any old "party" and there must be at least some support for it to be on the ballot. Otherwise there would be 8 million candidates for 8 million "parties", including the Vraiblonde For Imperial Queen of the Universe Party (membership: 1 (maybe 2)). But I really thought the Libertarians were more together than they apparently are.
