MD State Government Scam

I SAID IT YES I DID !
ANNAPOLIS (Nov. 27, 2008) -- The appeal of a rags to riches story has never been more desirable than now.

With a faltering economy dominating the minds and wallets of many, and stores predicting flat sales during the holiday season, Marylanders are spending less on retail goods. Yet local vendors agree on one thing.

Lottery sales have increased this year.

According to the Maryland Lottery, instant scratch-off sales are up almost $45 million from this time last year. Overall lottery sales are up by almost $10 million during the first 10 months of this year.

The odds of someone strikeing it rich is slim to none with the MD state government Lottery scams sure you may win $50.00 on a scratch off ticket but more then less likely to win the big prize. When people are poor and broke they can only wish to hit the big number but that is just a dream far away. Now with slots on their way the poor are going to be even poorer and crime will rise. Were is the Attorney Generals office when you need them most to look into such a scam.:cds:

How does this affect the third reactor at Calvert Cliffs? Is that where the proceeds will be going?

Ask good ole MOM. He likes to give it all to the school system in Baltimore or the illegal aliens. Wonder what he'll do with it this year?

MOM is handing out furloughs for state employees in 2009 .. two weeks off with no pay!!! guess we will also have to pony up the $$ for our health insurance that pay period since we won't have a check to take it out of...

but with all the people in the private sector facing lay offs and downsizing I guess we should be happy we will have a job to return to!

Good ole MOM. You can't really blame him for the lottery because it's been around a long time. I'll still never understand why slots were such a bad idea when Erlich was Governor but they have become a good thing since it's now MOM's idea.

I still don't understand why the rest of the state has to pay for MOM's favorite city, Balmer.

Let's not forget the sales tax hike and of course that he allowed BGE to raise our rates last year without a fight. Or, have we forgotten?

I heard it on the news too... He hadn't heard anything about it either....

If they furlough tho... wouldn't it be for one day rather than a week? In one day they could save the millions that the newscast was talking about.

Also... I think the timing is a bit off... The government is in a spending frenzy so they won't loose their funding for next year and talking of furlough at the same time... It happens every year... so much could be done with much less funding... and no one would have to loose a job....

It is sad, but it is called Marketing 101. They all do it! Verizon, AT&T, etc, etc. They only corporations that don't do the marketing schemes are the utility type companies. They are a legalized monopoly.

Speaking of MD Lottery; the real scam is the MD Keno. I have never seen such a ridiculous scam. But lots of people hog the convenience stores cashier line to buy them. When family come to MD to visit they are a little curious about it and scratch their heads. You mean you pick a bunch of numbers and it is entered into a computer. Then this same computer picks a bunch of numbers for customers to match, to win. Now that is really stupid! Wait! But there are winners out there! Of course there are; otherwise people wouldn't get sucked into playing it... Smart computer!!!

But now that we are on a beachin mood... I despise all these ads plastered all over the TV about drugs to do this, or do that. BUT! you must talk to your doctor to get 'em. What baloney is that? The drug companies are spending millions on ads for their products to an audience that can not buy them. Hmmmm. That must be Marketing -99. Since most of them drugs cost a hundred or more per pill, they have to write off those wind-fall profits somehow!!!

In Fiscal Year 2008, total Maryland
Lottery sales were $1.67 billion with total commissions paid to Maryland Lottery retailers at more than $117 million.

I will be glad when election time comes around again so we can vote out Osally,Franchot and the rest of the tax raiseing pigs.
