CUSTOMER ALERT:

Dear Customer,

The safety and health of our customers and staff is a top priority for Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA). To do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and following health and safety recommendations from State and Federal partners, we are closing our offices effective close of business on Friday, March 20, 2020 until further notice.

Even though we cannot assist you with your transaction in person, there are still many ways to take care of your MDOT MVA business using our eStore, 24-hour kiosk, or VEIP self-service kiosk. If you are eligible, many transactions including driver’s licenses, identification cards, vehicle registration renewals, change of address, insurance compliance payments and information on flag fees are all available online. Please be aware that due to staffing limitations, some services may take longer to process than usual.

For customers unable to take care of transactions online, Governor Hogan has declared a State of Emergency and has issued an Executive Order extending the expiration dates of all driver’s and business licenses, identification cards, permits and registrations that expire or are eligible for renewal beginning Thursday, March 12, 2020. If you are currently holding one of these products, please know it will not expire until the 30th day after the state of emergency has been lifted. You can view the Governor’s Executive Order at https://bit.ly/2UiWMK5.

We are committed to providing premier customer service to all Marylanders, including the most up-to-date information on MDOT MVA’s response to COVID-19. Please visit our dedicated webpage for the latest information on our current procedures and policies: http://www.mva.maryland.gov/covid-19.htm.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We look forward to serving you soon.

Let him drive without one.
Honestly, I am all for letting it take as long as it can before he gets one. He isn't the most attentive person and the thought of him behind the wheel in any capacity scares me. He will be doing a lot of parking lot driving before he even thinks about getting onto any type of road situation.

Well, with a, "learner's", you, or, someone, would have to be with him anyway. Myself. Driving since 10 years old. With my daddy's guidance. And, without permission from the State.

Yes I know someone has to be with him. Went through it a few years ago with our oldest. Husband taught him and will do the same with this one.
