MedStar Death Star?

Maybe its just coincidence..but in the space of only one week I receive two "Dear John" letters from doctors, explaining why they are leaving their practices. Both had become part of the MedStar conglomerate that intent on buying a medical service monopoly everywhere.

One was a General Practice Physician and the other my Opthamologist (in my line of work, you always get metal and grit in your eye eventually).

The physician was quite blunt about her reasons for ceasing family practice: Obamacare and the way MedStar is going about implementing that along with their rigid and anti-patient business model. Said she was tire of staring at a computer screen instead of working with patients.

My opthamologist was less specific. He said he just sold all his assets and records to MedStar and then decided to retire.

I got one the other day. An Opthamologist I think I saw once years ago.

Since reading this thread, I decided it was time to make an appointment with my dr. at eye physicians of st. mary's but their phone is constantly busy. Checked the website and my doctor isn't listed. What's going on over there?

Well there are a lot of advantages to having medstar ..more money, better technology, tighter hiring practices..its not all bad. they DO have a lot of computer programs and EMRs and all that..so a lot of the old school docs get mad when they have to navigate powerchart and such...and frankly they have a little more supervision now..which I dont think is neccesarily a BAD thing...

You would rather have the Shahs in your words, "intent on buying a medical service monopoly everywhere" ? I for one am very happy with the Doctors and staff at ANY Medstar entity I 've been treated at. The reason many of these Doctors are leaving private practice is $$$$. In these times, if you are not a specialist, your pay from insurance is crap. Obamcare has not helped one little bit with all the new rules and regulations EVERY medical professional is bound to follow.

He was independent and seeking to retire for years. He sold his practice to medstar who will staff it out of their Charlotte Hall location.
