Lots of black squirrels in DC. About 10 years ago, I used to sit in McPherson Park (14th/K) at lunch. I'd get a bag of peanuts and feed the squirrels. There was a white one that would come sit on the bench next to me. I often wonder what happened to him/her.

We had tons of black squirrels in College Park, but I'd neve seen them in SoMD. There's a town over here (Queenstown) that has several albino squirrels.

There were a few around Galesville-So. A.A. county.
I heard the gray squirrels are more dominant.

When I worked in Gaithersburg, I never saw grey squirrels there. They were all black.

IF I remember the article correctly, the black squirrels are decended from squirrels imported from Pa many years ago due to no or declinging population of, native squirrels.

That makes sense. I remember seeing a black one in Harrisburg, PA for the first time when I was 15. They were everywhere and I was in awe. When I worked at the animal hospital someone trapped and brought in a white one. Not albino just white.

To be a true albino does it have to have pink eyes?
