Same here! I've been with Mercantile for about 12-13 years. Hoping this will be a change for the better.

I've been with what was "1st National of St. Mary's" for over 15 and I haven't seen a big corporate deal like this (buyout, merger, etc.) that worked out in my favor.

I'm getting ready to switch to Bank of America

If you really want a LOCAL bank, try Community Bank of Tri County, County First or Maryland Bank and Trust are the only ones left in Southern Maryland.

Meanwhile, a friend in college in PA used PNC and loved them so I'm optimistic about the merger bringing better features to local customers without nickel and diming us to death along the way like they have been doing. $7.50/month for online bill paying? WTF? Major banks don't charge for that service.

1st National/Mercantile has been very slow to change and bring new services and features to retail individual customers. :yay:

Well, I dont use the online bill pay. I just go to the website of the biller and pay there. As long as my checking continues to be free then I'm good I guess. We really dont utilize any other services within the bank except saving acct for our girls
