I currently have DirecTV for HDTV service (with a DVR) and Verizon for telephone and DSL service. I am considering switching over to Metrocast's VIP packages which include all 3 in one package.

Any pros/cons? Anyone else do this switch?

Metrocrap is down more often than not. DSL is more reliable and has a steady speed.

Well I guess there are a few questions you have to ask yourself. What's the price difference? Are you happy with your current services? What's the purpose of switching? If your service was worse or you had poorer options on the new package, would it still be worthwhile?

The pros/cons are based on what you have now vs what you'd end up with. IMO Metrocrap is OK in my area, but I've heard people in other areas complain that it's down often. Their customer service also seems to suck.

I haven't had any problems with them.. When we moved we got reconnected in one day.. Service is great.. Cant complain... Now the speed isn't that great but better then dial-up JMO

Must be where you live, or maybe your judging based on heresay? Here, its very reliable. I had DSL back when, over four years ago, switched when I moved, but its been fine.

It would be cheaper than my current DSL/phone/DirecTv mix I have now. I know cable internet slows down at peak times, but I'm not too concerned as I rarely stream anything that would require a constant speed like DSL provides.

I currently have a mid-line DirecTv package, VERY basic phone service (no caller ID, no long distance) and DSL for my internet. The Metrocast VIP package will give me the same thing at a much lower monthly cost plus unlimited local & long distance phone service and (at times) much faster internet downloads. DirecTv has more HD channels, but cable also has all the channels I watch now in HD.

Some say cable's service is spotty...but so is satellite at times. Heavy rain comes and I lose TV for awhile.

Think I'll make the switch. If it doesn't work out, I can always switch back.

Thanks for everyone's input.
