Livin' Like Thanksgivin'
This movie is in theaters now with little promotion. It might not even be in SOMD for all I know.

The movie is about a 13 year old kid that has just finished his last season of Little League, recently lost his mother, and his lawyer/coach dad declared bankruptcy because of medical bills.

However, dad hid some assets and gets investigated for tax evasion, and instead of owning up to it, he gets his son new identities and they head to Vegas to start a new life.

Twist is that his son, now 13, ends up getting an identity of a 12 year old (it's explained why in the movie), and signs up for Little League in Vegas, and then proceeds to dominate the league, making the all-stars, and begins a trek for the Little League World Series. His play gets recognition, and dad and son are afraid of being discovered.

I'm not sure how I felt about this movie. It was fun because I like baseball movies, but it was deemed to be a family movie and I'm uncomfortable with that distinction.

Namely because it made the IRS out to be the bad guys for most of the movie, rather than the dad who broke the law. Dad sets a real bad example for the son, and to me, it seemingly teaches the lesson that as long as you're a star athlete, people will forgive you for breaking the rules/law.

I enjoyed the baseball aspect of it, and Harry Connick Jr. and the kid who played the son did a pretty good job of acting, but the moral of the story bothered me.

Not sure it'd be a movie I'd want my kid to watch, but if I did, I'd want to discuss it with said kid afterward to make sure he understands just how wrong it was to cheat.

I give it a thumbs in the middle.
