Microsoft Kin

Anybody have one or know anything about it? Conflicting info as some sites say you need a Data Plan others say you don't. I have VZW.

My daughter had a Kin 2M. It did not require a data plan. She went through several for various reasons. They finally sent her a jester (it was not a comparable phone) and we talked them into a D3 refurbish. The Kin 1 and Kin 2 are the only phones with wifi that doesn't need a data plan.

Daughter is asking about one, supposedly Sharp has fixed whatever problems they had in '10 when they were released. I'm gonna buy a phone outright so I don't have a contract for 2 more yrs for her

Fixed or not, they are no longer supported by Microsoft and all of the cloud features no longer work. Its basically a weird looking phone with internet access and nothing more.
