Chesterfield Police have identified the man who was gravely injured after being struck by a car last night as he chased his dog across the 11400 block of Robious Road. The victim is 60-year old Tyler W. Hancock of Midlothian.
Police said Hancock had stopped at a store to buy ice cream when his dog darted out of the vehicle. Hancock chased after the dog, flagging down traffic in one lane but a driver in another lane didn't see him and struck the man.
Hancock was transported to VCU Medical Center by helicopter for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Authorities last night said that charges had not been filed against the driver who struck Hancock.
The dog—a 2½-year-old female boxer named Jager—was missing until early this afternoon, when the family received word at the hospital that she had showed up unharmed at a construction site.
A friend of mine "worked" this accident-the owner kept calling for his dog-over and over again....
