Isn't there a Midnight deadline tonight to get tax returns mailed?
What if you're E-filing?
What if you're E-filing?
eFile or mail a request for extension form before midnight.
The extension is virtually automatic and you are only notified if it is not granted. Just because you get the extension does not mean that you have to use it. But it does eliminate the 1130 PM run to a Post Office that is accepting tax returns after normal hours.
Technically, you are supposed to return an estimated tax payment if you are going to owe taxes. However, the penalties only kick in in monthly intervals if you do owe taxes.
Since you brought up the subject; do you; or does anyone know if there is a post office open in the California (MD) area? Or does the envelope simply have to go into the slot? (Just trying to iron out the specifics) d'assall.
If I can get the eFile method to work, I'm going to file that way.
If I can't 'git-r-done' by eFile, I'll make the last minute run to the P.O..
The days of Post Offices being opened until midnight and the News crews filming it all are long gone! better get your tail to the Post Office before it closes for the post mark.
