The MIL Cares Program Team from The MIL Corporation in Lexington Park awarded a gift of $1,255 to Greenwell Foundation at their celebration last week. The gift will be part of Greenwell's 2019 Growing Greenwell Campaign, which supports the range of Greenwell's nature connection, outdoor, inclusive programming for community members with and without disabilities.
"My granddaughter went to Greenwell's Discovery Camp last summer, and she had a fantastic time," explained MIL Cares Program Team member Ricky Chesser, "Her favorite part of the whole week was when she got to paint a horse!"
"There is abundant research that shows bringing people and animals together is beneficial for everybody, especially for our neighbors in the disability community," explained Jolanda Campbell, Greenwell's Executive Director. "We are proud that Greenwell Foundation programming now serves all ages and abilities in our community - From our Nature Time Program in local Head Starts, Fire Within Field Trips for at-risk teens, Tranquility for veterans and Watershed Heroes for adults with intellectual disabilities, along with our wonderful Summer Camps."
