Yesterday, the third Indianapolis-based Honor Flight took 70 WW2 vets to DC, and they returned home last night. Hundreds of people, including Daisy and me, were there to greet them and give them a proper welcome home - complete with balloons, signs, flags, bagpipers, and puddles and puddles of tears.
Naturally, lots of family members and friends of the vets were there, but I'd venture to guess that the vast majority of folks there were like us - regular shmoes who didn't know any of the vets personally, but who just wanted to show up and thank them for their service, and for literally changing the course of history.
