Did you find your 10-digit DoD number? If you have an ID even though you're retired, on the back there's a barcode. That 10-digit number is above that.
My ID doesn't have a number. Was issued in 2994 when I turned 65. I don't have any problems getting prescriptions. Got kicked out of military medical when Medicare started.

Yes thank you - someone pointed it out in an earlier post. I think it's called the benefits number or something like that. (Can't look it up right now - don't know where I dumped my pocketbook)

You can still get prescriptions from the base though and would need the ID for that.
