Ubi bene ibi patria
"The leader of an Army sniper unit was acquitted yesterday of premeditated murder charges in connection with the killings of three Iraqi men in a region south of Baghdad last spring.

A military jury found the soldier, Staff Sgt. Michael A. Hensley, 27, of the First Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, Fourth Brigade (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, not guilty of murder in the three killings on separate occasions in April and May near Iskandariya.

He was found guilty of wrongfully placing an AK-47 rifle with the remains of one of the three men and of showing disrespect for a superior officer."

i'm glad he was aquitted.

i mean, wtf...we want them to serve and protect our country, but not kill people?

thats just silly.

i do have a problem with them planting evidence though...because doing that is wasting time that could be better used to take out more enemies :yay: and its putting you in harms way. what if when you're bending down to put that gun on the guy, you get shot in the back of the head by some other terrorist?

...but think of his ROE that require him to go near the kill in the first place. The only reason to 'plant' a weapon would be if he was operating under some sort of rules such as cops here at home do in terms of justifiable self defense. Good Lord.

Just one more oddity produced by the 'life or death' struggle against terruh.

i know, thats what i'm saying. our government/society should not expect there to be a rule as to who you can kill, such as only if they have a weapon or shoot first, or whatever. our rules should be "are you acting suspicious? then i can shoot you. do i have reason to believe you may even be THINKING about doing something to hurt some american soldier or citizen? then i can shoot you." we need to start getting around all this PC and "rules of engagement" :bs: IMO. We aren't even fighting an official "war" (unless it was declared one while i wasn't paying attention...its a "war on terror", not a nation...rules shouldn't apply...not that they necessarily should in other wars...but yeah)

They train them to kill, then they put them on trial. Stupid, beyond stupid , Crazy.

Sniping by its definition is premeditated murder.

Its what they are trained to do. As for disrespect for a superior , If that officer was the one who put him on trial ,then i disrespect the idiot buttwipe too.

Get out of the way and let these guys do their job.
