By Community Development Corp., Inc.
A 9-hole miniature golf course with room to grow to 18-holes is under construction at the St. Mary’s Golf Center on Great Mills Road.

Although this project is not slated to open until next spring, construction has already begun. The course will feature two waterfalls with multiple corkscrew, pipe and figure 8 shots to challenge young and old. Putt-putt golf is affordable fun for the whole family. The existing practice range will be open to the public and new and used cart sales will be available throughout construction of the miniature course.

For more information, contact the Golf Center at (301) 863-7673.

All Up In Your Grill
There used to be a putt putt golf course right there in Solomon's. I used to take my kids there all the time when they were little.

it's gonna happen..they have already started digging up the ground...they have the design on a posterboard in the office.....

the only downfall i see is the area it's in....more than once i've had people come up and ask me for money when i was hitting balls...

Power with Control
A good fence and monitored security cams would make it alright. If the riff-raff can just hop a small fence, anything put there will be destroyed shortly.

We have had miniature golf places in the past but they don't seem to stick around very long. You would think with the population base we have, it could be a profitable business but I guess in the end, development wins out. Minimum wage, real estate taxes, insurance, utilities - all of these things keep going up and making it more difficult on these "entertainment" businesses to make a profit I guess.

are you kidding? this population base can't get a decent movie theater, bowling alley, or basically any entertainment area of value.

the fact that this place is being put on GMR will be a disaster for them. nobody is going to bother going unless it's fortified  It'll probably get screwed up pretty quickly. It'll be busier at 2am than during operating hours.

I hear what you are saying...I hope for the owners sake it works....I hit the range up 2-3 times a week and there are always people there....the only 2 times i've had problems were nights before a tournament when i stayed till sunset. Both times people came onto the range and asked for money....the first time i was nice about it...the second time i got a little irrate as the idiot came up and said, "hey man" right in my backswing...:lmao:

You can thank the local county elected officals who decide what is allowed here and what is not.

Actually, it's the theater chains that don't want to bring a new theater here. The local officials tried to bring one here but the chains bulked. That's why we have BJs, which was origianlly zoned for theater/entertainment.

Sounds like way too tempting of a target for local dumbasses. You'd have to have a security guard there 24-7.

I sincerely hope that it works out, though. Anyone who adds to the options of where to take the kids for a little while is ok in my book.

You are going to be doing a lot of rolling. The shooting range is right next door.

They had a great one up in Hollywood, with batting cages and a driving range. Couldn't make it.
That has crossed my mind. Maybe they should offer bulletproof Vests with the price of 9 holes.

I overheard someone last night saying that they had just taken their kids to the putt putt in Solomons. I should have asked them where it is...anyone here heard anything about it?
