Mini Greenhouses & Yucky Windows

Okay, so I have two topics to cover.

For my birthday, I received two mini greenhouses. They stand almost as tall as me - so I'm guessing they are 5' tall and maybe 3' to 4' wide. They basically consist of some metal racks with wire shelves with a plastic zip up cover on them. I'm very excited to have them, however, they are proving difficult. They keep blowing over. I've tried placing them in different locations. That doesn't work. I've tried heavy weighted items in them. That doesn't work. Now I am thinking about digging them a hole to sit in, or possibly cutting a hole in the plastic cover and using zip ties around the shelves and attaching them to each other or around a tree or something. However, I'm afraid if I cut up the cover then there goes the "greenhouse effect" I wanted. Anybody have any ideas to keep these suckers from blowing over?

My other issue is the house windows. I've tried the typical such as: windex, vinegar and water, newspapers, etc. but the windows still seem "yucky". They almost look foggy or spotty in places. Anybody have any other ideas or suggestions to use to clean the windows up?

Thanks!

Mig, the windows have one of two conditions: If you've watered outside and it gets on the window, it could be hard water stains. I have that, have yet to find a way to get it off. Ran a sprinkler in the backyard when I went on vacation, the water splashed onto my pickup. Water stains. Never got it off.
the other could be that they are double-glass insulated windows. If the vacuum
breaks between them, you get moisture and mold between the glasses. No way to fix it other than replace the glass.

As far as the greenhouse goes, maybe try using tent stakes, either in the corner of the greenhouse without puncturing it, or by cord, putting the stakes 8-10 feet away from the base and tying off the cord at the top of the greenhouse. Did I make sense there?

They are double paned windows. Hmmm....how can I tell if the vacuum's broken? I guess I'll also do some research on hard water stains. If I find anything that works - I'll share it with you.

The staking idea is fabulous. :yahoo: Thanks.

Look very closely at the stain. You can see that is on the surface (water stain) or between the panes (broken seal).

You're welcome. Hope it works!

Dangnabbit - I have two side by side french doors and one's the spotted (hard water) and one's the foggy streaks (inside) :tantrum: I hate looking "dirty" (I have OCD), but new windows aren't in the budget when they still serve a purpose. Argh.

The windows in the front of my house have the hard water stains. Like you, new windows just are not in the budget. That will be a problem in a few years when I'm planning on selling.
