You don't have a cold. You have a very common, but rarely diagnosed side effect of pregnancy.

With my first, about the time I started to suspect I was pregnant, I had a killer stuffy/runny nose. Doctor diagnosed antibiotics for a sinus infection and gave me a referral for an OB/GYN/Midwife practice. The antibiotics didn't help at all.

The midwife AND my aunt, who was also pregnant at the time, both told me that sometimes the extra fluid in your body from the pregnancy gets into the the sinus tissues and causes the same symptoms as a head cold.

It'll go away in about 8 months or so. It can be temporarily relieved with sinus meds, but since all of them were just reformulated a couple years ago, make sure you discuss this with your OB. (not your regular doctor, who may not have a clue)

Is this your first? With my second, I got a "cold" at the same time I discovered I was pregnant. The third time, I got the cold almost a week before I was late. I came home the next day and as I was heading to the bathroom with the little pee-stick, my husband heard me sniffle for about the millionth time in the last day or so and says, "Do you think you could be...(I held up the box)...nevermind."

Drink a big glass of OJ and go to bed. Sleep is your friend, especially when you're PG. Best excuse in the world for a nap! Congrats!

about 8 weeks or so. I'll know more after my appointment this afternoon. I'm hoping the docotr can also suggest some sore of cold medicine that it would be ok to take. I know most of them are off limits.

Congrats, may you have many more

actually, it's my second. the situation you described COULD be a possibility except for the low grade fever I have along with the congestion, headache, sore throat, etc.
