Miss Ireland has been crowned Miss World 2003 winning out over the host country's Miss China

The pageant was marred last year by riots and killings in the host nation Nigeria which forced organisers to move the event to London. The fighting erupted after a Nigerian newspaper suggested the Muslim prophet Muhammad would have approved of the Miss World pageant and might have wanted to marry one of the contestants.
