Missing Boater Found Deceased Identified

A sad occurrence. However, let's learn from this tragedy. When boating or fishing by yourself, always wear a PFD [Personal Flotation Devise]. And for more comfortable wear, get one of those automatic inflatable types. Even when the water is warm, wear one, when alone. Distance is hard to measure when on water. Take Dominion's natural gas platform in the bay by Cove Point, that structure is one (1) mile from land. Ever try to swim one mile, with your clothes and shoes on? Would you even have the presence of mind, or ability, to remove your shoes, socks and pants while trying not to sink? Even those that train for these scenarios, wearing fully laced up combat boots, combat uniforms and gear, in the military, (usually in the aviation field), find it difficult and daunting, and that is in a supervised setting with safety swimmers in the water and personnel at the ready on the sidelines to save your ass if you go under. Save you own life and wear a life preserver, at all times. By the way, he was on a 30 foot boat. Do not let the size of the boat lull you into a false sense of security.
