Police Search for Missing Doctor


Hillcrest Heights, MD -- Police are asking for the public's help to find a prominent St. Mary's County optometrist and activist missing since Saturday afternoon.

60-year-old Dr. Marcel Brooks was last seen Saturday at approximately 1:00pm as he was leaving to purchase a lottery ticket in Hillcrest Heights.

St. Mary's County Police say Dr. Brooks is healthy and would have no financial or criminal reason to disappear. He and his wife do not have a history of marital problems.

Brooks is described as an African American man with a medium complexion, about 5'6" tall and 185 lbs.

He was driving a Grey 1997 Chrystler Town and Country Van, Maryland tags "001 5413," with an "H" sticker on the back.

If you have any information about Dr. Brooks, contact the St. Mary's County Sherriff's Department.

OldHillcrestGuy resents that statement, Hillcrest has stayed kind of out of the news compared to Suitland, Glassmanor, Forest Heights, District Heights and Forrestville all great neighborhoods in their time. Would I take a stroll around the neighborhood, NO. Most of the major crimes around Hillcrest stay out on Branch Ave.

No new news, and he hasn't been located. His cell phone, ATM and credit cards haven't been used.

Bizarre. I keep thinking that it was a carjacking. A lot of young knuckleheads jack vans and SUVs and ride around with their buds afterward before abandoning the vehicle. Gotta keep hoping for the best...

Yeah - he is a heck of a nice guy. I think he's also the current President of the Minority Business Alliance. I can't imagine that he was mixed up in anything bad, or just disappeared on his own. Must be foul play.

I'm with you on that one. I hope is family is strong and remains hopeful even though with every passing day, things don't look better.
