Hemi, our 6 month old German Shepherd, has been missing since last Thursday evening (Jan 6th) around 430pm. He and our lab got out--our lab came back, but with out his little buddy. We are worried sick, especially with this terrible weather. He had a blue collar on (no tag :frown: ) but he is microchipped.

We are thinking that someone might have him, and think that he makes a great belated Christmas gift but please, please please--bring him back. My husband has served numerous tours in Iraq & Afghanistan, and Hemi is his therapy dog to help him cope with PTSD. Hemi is an integral part of our family!!

$500 Reward offered, and no questions will be asked upon his return-We just want our boy back.

Hemi was last seen off of Guy Farm Rd and Mechanicsville Rd, in Mechanicsville. Any help/tips are much appreciated. Thank you!

I live very close to that area. I will look for him when I am out and about. Have you contacted the Enterprise and Baynet to see if they would be willing to post something for you? I would hope the fact that he is a therapy dog would make them more inclined to assist you in spreading the word. If someone does have him, maybe seeing your story will make them think twice and return him.

I really hope you find him.

I'm over on Baptist Church next to Guy Family Way. Went outside and looked around. I'm sure my Abbi (GSD) will make noise if yours comes by. Hope he comes home soon, it's cold out there. :(

Any news yet? I would call all the local vets and take them a poster. Let them know the dog got out and there is a reward and he is microchipped on the poster. Good Luck hopefully he will find his way back to you.

You are amazing! Thank you so so much for your kindness! I will be calling more vets today--we just moved here from San Diego, CA--other than the pound on 231, are there any other shelters I should be looking at?

Thank you again!

Thank you--my gut is telling me that someone has him, and not necessarily that they've stolen him, you know? He had no tag on (shame on me/us, after the last one broke off we were slow to replace it) so of course any kid/family might think--oh, what a cute puppy and he's great with kids! I hope they come to the realization though that he is chipped, and get him checked out :(

I did contact them about a print ad (looked to do one online) and it was a whopping $70 for 2 days! I will see if they will reconsider...

Thanks for keeping your eyes open!

POST flyers at ALL main stops... near and far away! Dogs travel fast!

this way if someone has him.. they see the flyer and will call.

This happened to someone i know... his dog got away from him in waldorf Piney Church area.. made it all the way down to HUGHESVILLE off of burnt store rd. in just a few hours... and someone picked the dog up as it was standing in the rd. now mind you the person happened to be driving this rd.. USUALLY doesnt and lived all the way down past Budds Creek race track.. so he never saw the flyers .... BUT IF we had posted at the end of all the main rds... he would have.... the only way the dog got back home was because i posted an ad on the Baynet also!

You can pm me and I can give you another alterantive that may help. :yahoo:

Sorry to hear about Hemi. Chances are that someone has him. Call the local radio station, to see if they will broadcast the dog missing. Have them emphasize the fact that Hemi is a Service Dog. Years ago, a dog ended up on our door step, and I called the Radio Station, and they advertized it free for 3 days. Go to every Vet in your area, with posters, and maybe even put posters just outside your area. Also go to Tri-County Animal Shelter every day if it's possible, to check to see if the little guy is in there. They usually do scan each animal as they come off the truck. Also, you mentioned that you just moved to the area from California...are the contact numbers still correct? If not..call the microchip company. Keep us posted.

I saw a lost dog sign on the side of one of those drive-up post office drop boxes and thought that was a really good idea. Something worth thinking about!

Try Applejack K-9 on Route 6 they breed Gsd sometimes they are a magnet for them. Maybe someone took him there and dropped him off. Also drop off flyers there for him. God bless you for all you have done for us. We are GSD lovers also. Let us know if there is there is anything we can do to help.
