Missing Girl Sends Mom Text Messages

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Since her 13-year-old daughter vanished Monday, Stella Browne says she has been getting text messages from the girl saying that someone followed her and that she woke up in a dark basement.

One of the messages Natasha Browne sent her mother shortly after disappearing said: "Someone has me, she'll take my phone," Jersey City Police Chief Robert Troy said Wednesday.

I thought most modern digital cell phones (within past 2 years) had a GPS chip in them. Meaning that even though you can't use the GPS, the cell phone company could track your phone's movements if they wanted. :shrug:

Is that not correct?

That was my impression too, my phone is around 3 yrs. old and wasn't a high end model at the time and it has it.
