Mission: Impossible III

M:I:III is released this Friday and I will be there opening night. This new film is directed by J.J. Abrams, the creator of "Alias" and "Lost." Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames return and they're joined by last year's Academy Award Best Actor winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne, and Keri Russell. The plot is being kept secretive, but it known Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, is forced to fight a conscience-free gunrunner (Hoffman) who has targeted Hunt's girlfriend (Michelle Monaghan). Reviews so far are fantastic, the trailers and TV ads have been intense, and I loved the first two films, so this just seems to be the perfect moviegoing choice. Anyone else excited?

Truthfully, I don't care about celebrity's personal lives. I don't care if Tom's a Scientologist (I don't hold it against other celebs and their belief in that invisible avenger in the sky), nor do I care if Charlton Heston is on a personal mission to put killing machines in the hands of every single American. This looks like an incredibly entertaining film. Besides, it's not just a Tom Cruise movie. Thousand of other people worked on it as well.

Sorry there is no way I could let that slip by.

I'm Boycotting Tom Cruise... he's a NUTCASE.
:yeahthat:
But...not just a nutcase, he's Anti-American. He was known to make negative comments about America (@the time of his divorce...) not being "good enough" to raise his children. It was his desire to have them grow up in Australia. It is a shame, the movie does seem entertaining, but I think just as celebrities can "say what they want", I have freedom of speech with my pocket book!

I too agree he is a nut but so is 95% of the rest of Hollywood too. Most are out of touch with America, left wing, my s*** don't stink types.

I'm still waiting for Alec Baldwin to leave the country seeing how Bush got re-elected.

I just don't believe Tom's done anything to warrant him being boycotted. I mean, the director of the Jeepers Creepers films is a child molestor and people flocked to see those movies.

Never saw Jeepers Creepers either.. If David Duke wrote the best book ever written I wouldn't buy it, my money does not need to be in his checking account. The same for actors that forget they are only actors.. They need to do their job and shut up, not try to recuit the masses of their fans to their religion, their way of thinking..

You can give him all of your money if you like.. personally I'd laugh my butt off if MI III was a dismal bust at the box ofice.. making Tom persona non-grata in Hollywood.

Saw it last night. Thought it was incredible - one of the best summer action films in a long time. The entire cast did a fine job, the action sequences were epic and stylish (especially the one set on the Bay Bridge), and the plot had many surprising twists. A very good film!

Who said boycott? It is just hard to watch a guy play a serious super spy type guy after you have watched him go manic all over every tv interview he does. I want to believe the character. It may be hard to believe the character when all I can see is him acting like a fruitcake in real life.

Valarocque and Negative Nancy said boycott, that's who.

And if you can believe these characters in summer action movies can jump off buildings, land hundreds of feet below, and get up and begin running immediately, it shouldn't be that hard to believe Cruise is a serious super spy. ;-)

Yes, but you can only disassociate yourself from reality so much for these films... believing Cruise isn't anything more than a flaming fruitcake is harder than believing an action hero can catch a bullet with his ass cheeks, spit it back, and destroy an armed helicopter.

MSN is reporting the unexpected low turnout for MI III,, they made 15 Million LESS then expected. They expected MI III to make at least as much, if not more, then MI II on it's opening week-end, but the turnoout was low.

Some are blaming it on Cruise being Looney Tunes.. producers deny it of course.

I'm still betting on the timing of the release...first week in May is a little early, when the previous outings were Memorial Day weekend.

I don't think the general public has soured on Tom as much as people want to think. And if they do, I don't think it matters at the box office - people still go to movies starring nutcase movie stars, drunks, addicts and just plain weird.

Yea, it was strange timing of the movie. guess they wanted to open up before the new X-men movie. I saw it at the uptown and it was sold out. but then again, it is in DC with all the liberals, so maybe that was the difference :lmao:
