Gayla Peevey is still with us, turned 80 this year. Here she is talking about the song a few years ago.

Of course! Wouldn't have even known about it if not for you. I heard it over the speakers today at Belks and thought hey that's Mitizi's favorite!

I don't remember ever hearing it as a kid. It must be a lost classic 🤣. Nice to know you thought of me.

over and over again in Belks today.

I think that was you that said this was your favorite Christmas carol a couple of years ago.

I know a handful of people who love this song ir who have a “thing” about hippos the way some people have about owls or penguins. There’s this mystique about them suggesting they’re cute and cuddly and certainly baby hippos are cute.

But in reality they’re unquestionably the most dangerous mammal in existence and depending on your source, kill more people than elephants, lions and tigers combined. They’re ferocious -it would give an entire pride of lions a serious run for its efforts to take down even ONE.

Not a thing for me; I've seen National Geographic. Having said that, I saw a baby hippo just a few weeks old at Baltimore National Zoo. It was adorable.
