Hi folks,

I had seen from earlier posts that there was a train club of sorts in LaPlata. Is it still in existence?

Is there anything near Lex Park?

Son LOVES railroad crossings and I want an outlet. Thanks!

Hello, I'm afraid that the unnamed club that meets in the La Plata Train Station Museum has been "dormant" for the last couple of months-hopefully things will revive once summer is over and vacation season ends.

If and when we schedule another meeting I'll be sure to post the information in this forum.

In the interim, have you ever been to the Chesapeake Beach Railroad Museum?

The La Plata Train Station Museum is open on Saturdays from 12 noon to 4 PM and has a small train layout inside. You MIGHT get lucky and see a train pass by while you're there.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with anything else in the 3 southern Maryland counties. There used to be a model railroad club in Prince Frederick but I believe they disbanded a number of years ago.

A couple of "day trips" you might try would be to the National Capitol Trolley Museum in Wheaton, the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore and the Baltimore Trolley Museum.

Please post when the next meeting will be whenever it is set.

We are just getting started in railroading as we clear more room in our house and our yard to set stuff up (we did build a pretend crossbuck/gate railroad crossing for our front yard - no lights/bells yet but working on them).

We've seen a good number of people in SideTrack Hobbies and G-Scale Train Shop over the years so somebody local's buying. BTW, maybe they would post a sign/spread the word.

If there is a local model train listserve on Yahoo Groups that would be good to know, too.

Thanks!

You can go to Groups.Yahoo.com and search for them :yay:

G-Scale Trains

I have a bunch of G-Scale trains that my father has been collecting. Is there a place where I can talk to people who might want to purchase them?

There is a store in Waldorf called G-scale trains. I believe he buys used trains or can atleast give you a good idea about what there worth and how to sell them. Plus there is allways e-bay. Also there is a toy/model train show at the state fairgrounds on Aug. 8-9. I am sure that you can find any/all info you need there.
