Mole for dinner

Funniest thing last night! My better half mentioned that she hopes our new cats (formerly feral) would start catching the moles in the yard.

Two hours later, while I was working on dinner, she asked "Dear, did you put the mole on the dinning room table?"

Looked at each other, then at the mole, back to each other, and couldn't stop laughing the rest of the night. I love it when they bring us gifts, but on the table????

Our first cat, who adopted us when we first moved here, used to kill the neighborhood moles and then "show us". We think her previous owners dumped her so she was used to being outside. She would scratch at the door when she wanted in or out like a dog. She would make her kill and then scratch at the door to be let back in. When we'd open the door, she'd started crying and run into our front yard. We'd go look and tell her what a great hunter she was and she'd be so proud of herself. Once the cat went back inside, we'd get the shovel out and dispose of the mole.

When my cat catches a mole she eats the whole thing like a huge gummy bear. The vet said eating live prey like that is good for her teeth and helps prevent cavities.

Claudia killed two moles the other day and left them on the patio. She's such a good girl. :huggy:

One of our cats was a great hunter/provider. He used to leave moles for us on the front door mat. Only problem, he only left what he didn't feel like eating... And he generally ate them head first. I didn't go barefoot for years!!

Doesnt anyone feel bad for all the moles being murdered because you people allow your cats to run free?:sarcasm::razz:

It's not HaHa time....
my 11wk old husky puppy ate one yesterday morning, by the time we realized what she had, and caught up to her, she swallowed the rest (legs were hanging from the sides of her mouth). needless to say no good bye kiss for her...

And now the rest of the story . . . . .

Happened again last night but this time we saw it. Chorney (1 1/2 yr old male) brought in a dead mole and was playing with it. Flipped it high into the air and it landed on the kitchen island! Now we figure we know how the first one got on the table.

You know that's what they serve in the Mexican restaurants.... mole sauce. They puree the little beggars and bottle it with a bit of spice.
