I have something tunneling under my entire yard destroying the grass, tunneling up to my shrubs right before they die, I need help.

I have tried poisoning, trapping, and even just jabbing a pitchfork in my yard like a mad man.

Anyone have any ideas? I planted 15 new japaneese holly bushes last fall most have been killed after a tunnel up to them appears.

Moles....and you cant get rid of all of them..
What you need to do is get rid of what it is eating: grubs...

Contact your local Extension Agent, and see what they recommend to use on your lawn to kill the grubs.
Or contact a lawn company...

Get rid of the food, and the moles will die off/move away.

I'm Trying

I have the same problem. I was at Lowes last weekend and the kid there told me gummy bears poked into the tunnels will kill them when eaten. He said anything I bought would be a expensive and these were effective, as the moles couldn't digest them. I'm giving it a shot, at $2 a bag it beats trying the expensive route.

Then you have dead moles to attrack other critters that smell the dead moles and dig up your lawn to eat the bounty of sugar filled dead moles.

Then you are gonna have to get rid of those critters..and odds are they will be skunks! They love lawn grubs and dead things. :jameo:

:yeahthat: Well you can't have MY cat but you need a cat. I have 2 mostly outdoors cats (because they won't use the litterbox properly) and no live moles or voles, only the occasional dead one left on the porch.

I read that this is a myth perpetrated by the companies that make grub killer. Moles main food is earthworms and grubs are just an extra treat.

Dad has this "sinister" looking thing that he uses. It's basically a mole killer.
It's got something like three stationary spikes that you put in the ground, and a spring-loaded steel spear with a trigger that pierces the ground when the mole trips it.

Yep. Good idea is to set out mole traps, they have the softest fur. It's actually kinda fun. Gotta have the knack. Make sure to read up on it. The voles follow the mole's runs and eat your bulbs. Grubs eat the bulbs too. If moles eat grubs, though, then they are helping you. What to do? I just said screw it and watch nature take its little course in my yard. Moles do piss me off a bit though and then it is trapping time. They tend to cause erosion problems in my yard.

Well, the first thought when moles come around is that they will dig under the house foundation; then you wind up with sagging walls and that kinda crap.

Hmm, I guess, it would take a lot though. If they make a tunnel that is close to the house I can see water taking that route. That could lead to problems. Would grubs be under the house? I really can't see that. Watch the edges though.

I've given up and accepted the mole/vole trails. What really pizzes me off are the blasted ground hogs. Every so often I'll see this HUGE pile of dirt appear, looks like a mole trail but MUCH larger.

Gopher Gassers work really well.
Sure Stop Gopher Gasser (Pack Of 6)
The Greenery used to carry them.

I used Mole Scram last year and it worked well. Going to have to do so again this year because they are already bad. Hell, with the warm weather, they never really went away.

I see small earthen tunnel mounds and sometimes a hole at one end of a tunnel. I notice alot of tunnel mounds in my mulched plant beds. My cat keeps their population under control. Do moles/voles eat plants? I

Voles eat plants, moles eat worms and grubs.

Kiki and Gidget - well, Gidget anyway - make short work of any voles that come in their yard. Claudia was the best exterminator ever before she got too old to fool with them.
