Mom Cat

This is Mom Cat. She was abandoned by her family in 2000 when her family moved. She was left in a kitchen cupboard until the cleaning lady came in and then she put Mom Cat out the back door. PAWS was called and retrieved Mom Cat. About a month later, Mom Cat had 7 little boys, all of whom have long since been adopted to their forever homes. Mom Cat has been with me ever since 2000, but if possible I would like to relocate her to a more suitable home. She must be the only cat. I have 6 cats and one small laid-back dog. Mom Cat loves everybody except other cats and with them she is very aggressive. She loves a warm lap and to make her happy, just drag a piece of string across the floor and she goes nuts chasing it. We guesstimate her age to be about 9 years old. We believe the litter she had in 2000 was her first. I realize she is an older cat but she is healthy, playful and has a hearty appetite. As a matter of fact, you have to measure her food or she will become a true chubbo. If you know of anyone interested in an older, litter box trained, lovable kitty, pls pm me. She has no behavioral problems at all unless you are another cat. Thank you.

I couldn't get this picture to attach in the previous post so I put it here. :) Here Mom Cat is helping with the laundry. This was such strenuous work that she had to take a nap afterward...

Why the new home?

Only because she is so rough with the other cats, particularly with the one subordinate female. In this outdoor group, there's the 15 yr old male, an 11 yr old subordinate female, then the Mom Cat who is 9, and then a lovey 7 yr old male.

They all come in at night. Three go in the garage and have heated beds. The Mom Cat goes into the basement and she has a heated bed. I alternate which female cat goes out during the day. They take turns. The last time both females were out at the same time, the subordinate female had to be vetted for a torn ear and bite wound to her leg.

The outdoor cats have 4 acres of fields and woods to ramble in. Peace reigns when the Mom Cat is not out. She will pick a fight with any other cats she crosses paths with. I'm just thinking it would be so much more peaceful and easier if I could find her a suitable home.

Sorry to hear that. Which cats have you had for the longest period of time?

She is the third. First a male, then a female (who is now the subordinate) and then Mom Cat.

Mom Cat came from a rough neighborhood and probably had to fight alot even tho she had a family to feed her, plus the landlady who put her out said the original owners had a number of small kids...maybe the kids played too rough. Maybe Mom Cat just doesn' like other female cats. I just don't know.

Thanks.....if a suitable new home doesn't pop up, it's still ok. she'll continue to stay here with me. >^.,.^<

You have had this cat for 8 years and now you want to get rid of her like she is excess trash you cant deal with?

And you say you love cats?

Go talk with your vet about her behavior..that is IF you care about her and want to spend some money.

Otherwise, take her to one of the MANY rescue groups in the tri-county area.

How sad to just want to toss a beloved pet just because you dont want to take the time to help her out.

(Shaking my head) Why do people like you continue to do this?
Get a cat, keep it for 8 years, get tired of it and tosses it out...

She was abandoned 8 years ago and now, more than half way through her life span, you want to abandoned her (again) to a new location?
How old is she....8...9...10?
That is just plain cruel.

Get her to the vet for a check up...might be more going on than you not wanting her anymore.

Or get rid of the cats you took in AFTER you got her!

But then again, maybe she knows you hate her and want to get rid of her..and is acting out becasue of it....cats are smart and know how their owners feel about them.

Then why is she getting rid of a cat she has had for 8 years?
Gave up on it?
Does not want to take the time to find out what is wrong with her?

I dont care if she is the head of HSUS...getting rid of a cat after having it for 8 years becaus it does not get along is NO excuse.
I have 8 cats, most NOT mine, but forever fosters due to "issues". They live here forever..and get the care they deserve and neeed.
And guess what..all are inside and ALL get along!!!

I am so tired of people tossing away dogs and cats because they are tired of them and cant deal with them any longer, and they are too lazy to find out what is wrong and work with a vet and the animal to get it the help it needs.

Maybe it is time for her to stop doing rescue and focus on caring for the cats she has and getting the help the cats need.

No sympthy for her ...just her poor cat that is being abandoned yet again.
Great example of someone involved in Cat Rescue!

If you rescue an animal, you are responsible for that animal for their entire life....and having it for 8+ years is an obvious indication of keeping it forever.
Looks like a nice, happy cat.

Too bad it is not wanted anymore......

So they're going to live with you forever? Sounds like they're yours. :yay:

Answer this, if Mom Cat is unhappy living with other cats, and her other cats are unhappy because they're being bullied, you think she should keep the cat just because? Don't you think it might be better to find a home for Mom Cat so everyone is happier?

After 8 years of owning the cat?
Cat is what..9-10 years old....might live to age 13-15?
What caused the problems to begin with?

Just because a child starts picking on another child in the family, is that grounds to get rid of the kid?

Why is Mom Cat being agressive?
What is the main problem?
Why are rescue cats allowed to go outside and wander?

Mom Cat not worth the time and energy to find out what is wrong?

My cats dont have issues and I am not dumping them/getting rid of them.
I agreeded to care for them and I will.
They legally still belong to the rescue group, but I care for them and give them a safe and loving home.

Should one need to "go", then the cat goes onto another member of the group. We dont toss out or get rid of out foster cats or dogs. Just is not humane, and not what we are about.

I hope the cat is not tossed out and that an effort is made to discover and correct the issue.

Wow! Slow down and calm down! My goodness! I never discussed her as if she is trash. If you sincerely read my earlier email, she has her own heated bed, and I can assure you she isn't hated. She gets lots of love and attention, and she gives the same in return. My only intent is to see if there is a place she might be better suited. If she was to be relocated, her transfer would be done within the parameters of the rescue group she came from....a home inspection, etc etc. Some kitties simply like to be the only kitty. And, if you'll take the time to read my words with your heart, you'd have read that she stays with me regardless if no one pops up who might be interested in only one kitty.
