New Tour Offering at JPPM

On Monday, January 16, the public was invited to the first ever Monday Memories guided tour of Point Farm, located on Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM), Calvert County.

All are welcome to come share memories of Calvert County, the Patterson family, JPPM or those who once worked on the land that is now JPPM. Each Monday a different speaker will be featured, but the public is welcome to share as well. Visitors may also simply enjoy the tour and listen to the memories of others.

The Point Farm home sits high on a hill, surrounded by an open landscape designed by noted landscape architect Rose Greely, framed by a beautiful view of both St. Leonard Creek and the Patuxent River. Designed by Gertrude Sawyer in 1932, this Colonial Revival brick home was the country retreat of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Patterson. Many original furnishings remain in the house. The gardens surrounding the house are being restored by a volunteer group using the original plans as a guide.

Tours will be given at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Mondays, beginning January 16. Reservations are required: ages 10 and older, $10/person and $8/seniors (55+). Please call 410-586-8501 for reservations or visit Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum -Maryland State Museum of Archaeology for more information.
