The first one should be on the local news, as far as I'm concerned.

It use to chap me a bit when a sailor would do something wrong in the community. The newspaper would always identify the person as a sailor. How come they don't id the guy as a plumber or an accountant? Unless your employer or occupation is relevant to the story, then put it in the article/headline/ Otherwise just tell the story.
