Money taken from our paychecks

… to be used to fund EV charging stations in ‘low income areas’ in Martha’s Vineyard, San Francisco and Rehoboth Beach. Etc

Numerous elite hangouts and locales — including Montauk and Fishers Island in New York, and parts of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket in Massachusetts — are among the areas that the administration has classified as “low-income” and eligible for receipt of EV charger subsidies, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) interactive eligibility map.

So there's a difference between eligible and where these thing end up. Looking at the map, you can see what you have is literally low income areas near the rich areas where the lower income folks who take care of the rich areas live.

Look at at St Marys. Where is it? Right where your lowest income folks are concentrated. And while I do not agree with the whole point of this program, our tax dollars should not be building charging stations unless its for govt owned vehicles, this chart appears to simply be income driven. Nobody said the Obamas need a charging station, lets make sure the Vineyard gets some. But the Vineyard has people who also don't make a lot of money. There are multi million dollar houses within a 10-15 miles of our designated area here as well. Hell, St Marys as a whole has a pretty impressive income level.

So, IMO, this isn't corruption, just crappy governance making crappy choices.

Although it may not be zero, the likelyhood of those poor people purchasing a Tesla to go clean Rachel Riches house is so low it is statistically ZERO.

This is for the benefit of the Rich Liberal Donors to the Demograftic Party.

Part of the charging stations agreement was a certain % be in low income areas. The govt just found a got around. Its MD's issue and why none have been build until they designate a few high end areas close to poor areas.

Must be nice having an ally controlling the federal purse strings. You can just piss your own money away on whatever you want and Uncle Sugar will give you more.

EV charging stations in low income areas is a scam and money laundering scheme. Poor people don't drive EVs and wealthy people don't venture into low income areas, and they certainly wouldn't stop for an hour+ to charge their car.

if nothing else, one of the locals will make a few bucks from the copper when they cut the cable off and take it to the scrap yard.

I think building the charging stations in low income area's is a great idea,
Build a big one in Anacostia.
The poor people would love to have rich people sitting in their neighborhoods charging their cars.
It's like sending them people to rob. It isn't every day the usual suspects get to car jack a Tesla.

Of course the poor cannot afford a Tesla or an electric pick up truck any other way so send the rich folks to the poor neighborhoods, it's a great idea.

This is not germane to this post but just something to think about.
We have all been aware that the jab has been inefficient in stopping Covid the masks are pretty much useless too, but even so our Government is still pushing the shot and the masks . Now we all know that electric cars and busses and trucks are pretty much useless in cold weather , and they aren't economical or even good for the environment , but the government keeps pushing them. Iran is causing 99% of all of the trouble in the Mid East, but they are untouchable by the Biden Government. Open borders are hurting America but Biden is doing nothing about it, but making it worse.

What is it about the Biden Administration that cannot admit their mistakes? In spite of all evidence of policies not working they double down on their idiocy. Are these acts deliberately done to destroy us?

I think part of the "logic" behind putting all of these charging stations was not primarily "low income" - but rural, and to a limousine liberal, rural means poor.

It does make sense to space out chargers in regions where there aren't any, or aren't a lot of people. If you're driving out across the Midwest and Plains states in an EV - you might want to know if there's a charging station anywhere nearby.

SADLY - VERY RICH parts of the country ALSO tend to be - "rural". Just around DC - suburbs like Great Falls, Travilah, Wolf Trap, Potomac, Dranesville and Darnestown would ALL QUALIFY as "rural" - and yet, they're among the richest places in the nation.

BUT - I agree. The government has been sucking up to early adopters of EV technology, and these are all rich people.
