In Murlins increasing debt at a severe critical stage, here is more of your money being misappropriated!
And what, if anything, will be the end result??
Oh, I forgot. It’s BLM month and our racist Governor…

The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services was awarded a $200,000 grant to begin searching for the remains of hundreds of Black boys in the woods near the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center, the first step toward formal recognition of the boys’ deaths.

Funds will pay for a ground-penetrating radar survey and restoration of the cemetery grounds, according to the Maryland Historical Trust.

“I want to find some decent way to restore dignity to these boys and to give some level of healing to their families,” said Crystal Foretia, a former Juvenile Services researcher who helped draft the grant. The Maryland Historical Trust and Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture announced the grant on Jan. 28.

Was there an escape I didn’t hear about?
Yeah, like in 1927, ‘34, ‘37

And when they find the offenders, their graves will be exhumed for DNA, then REPARATIONS, maybe the Lindbergh baby, Admiral Yamamoto’s chef…

As long as they catch them and put them back, I don’t care

It's not a bad thing. But it's a surplus year budget item.

Or it should be privately funded, not taxpayer.

Most of the stuff Democrats want should be privately funded. Planned Parenthood, NPR, special interest things like this. The Stonewall monument - that should be privately funded, then they can fly all the flags they want.

That’s PERZACTLY my point, for $200000.
Exactly how much the down payment is for some Senators condo in Palm springs…

They know the graves are there already, it's not like they are looking for graves that are not known about.
The place was a segregated black reform school.
Any evidence they may find or any names of those buried there will have to come from old records unless they intend to dig them up and do DNA on old bones that were buried over 100 years ago.
If they want to clean up the site and mark the unknown graves that could be fairly easy to do, and even letting people know that all of this went on and has basically been forgotten is probably a good history lesson, But is that worth spending a lot of tax money on. Those who are interested should find some private way to support all of the digging and investigations they can afford. More power to them. but should I pay for it? If I do pay for it when does the paying stop? Digging them up and doing DNA to identify bodies that have been buried for 100 years and trying to figure out how they died is going way above and beyond what we should have to pay for IMO. If there were bad guys running the prison they are dead.

$200,000 if that were the end of it I don't have much of a problem with. That should show the extent and provide some sort of marker that the graves are there, cut the grass and clean the place up. Anything further should be done with private money.

One might want to answer why the next of kin did not claim the body(s)?

If everyone is so concerned, raise private funds, clean up the cemetery, put aside funds for perpetual care, and erect a monument.

*They* don't want to pay for it, they want *you* to pay for it.

$200,000 is the down payment. It will cost way more. Whoever got the grant pushed through will be back for millions more.

That is exactly what I am against. The $200,000 should be it. Period. End of story.

But you are probably right. After all Wes is loving sht like this. It makes him look good with his darker constituents.

All he needs to do is post something anti-Trump and his numbers go up.

Whaa I didn't get invited to dinner.
