The sky looks so cool tonight.. I took a few pics. It was difficult as I have no Tripod still.

Methodically disorganized
If you were trying to find spooky I think you landed right on it. And it's so simple, too... merely looking at the moon through bare tree branches. The first one is better, even though it is blurry/out of focus, because the color cast is more pronounced and the moon is more prominent, where it's kind of lost in the second one.

Going back to the stars
Those pics are awesome. Caught the sky and trees perfectly. ((i'm not a camera expert can't give any advice on the tripod thing..)) but I love taking pictures!!

I like the first one the best, the color cast is better and the moon seems more prominent in the frame. Ask for a GOOD tripod for Christmas! The stability would have made the shot much easier to achieve clearly.

Okay so I was outside on the deck with my camera resting on the top rail of the deck. I couldn't see the moon like that. So I grabbed a book and propped the front end of the camera on the book

Try a bean-bag.
Or folded up towel.
Save that 1st pic for next Halloween.

:yeahthat: also use the cameras self timer to eliminate any camera shake induced by the pressing of the shutter release button. A remote shutter release comes in handy, and are relatively inexpensive (i think i paid ~$30 for mine from ebay and its wireless) but the self timer will do in a pinch.

I would stick to the Nikon ML-L3, read that many of the knock-offs are not reliable at all. It sucks that the D40 doesnt have the plug in the side like the D70/D80.

If you do a search on google you can find another avenue. There are a few universal remotes for TV's that with a certain code will fire the shutter just as the ML-L3 does.

Here are some sites that talk about it.
