Arnold's Films Likely to Be Kept Off Air
Arnold Schwarzenegger's foray into California's gubernatorial recall election poses a dilemma for broadcasters who might be tempted to show his films during the race: Doing so would allow rival candidates to demand equal time.
How idiotic! Like one more airing of "The Running Man" is going to push voters toward Arnie. :duh: He's already got all the name-recognition any candidate could want. Cruz whats-his-face can campaign 'til he's blue in the face and still nobody would know who he is - how many Marylanders do you think can name our/i] Lt. Gov? Arianna Huffington is known to pol junkies and that's about it. Larry Flynt has better name-rec than she does.

Figure it out, people! Arnie will be the next Governor of California and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

Sorry about that chief.
Vrai, lighten up and breathe slowly. This has nothing to do with the dems, in fact they could demand equal time if Arnie's shows were on the air. The networks are being careful not to screw the pooch. Wonder if they'll remove Hustler from the newsstands?

Arnie doesn't need to do anything except pack his boxes and move into Sacramento.

Printed material is not covered by the "equal time" law. Any bozo can put out more paper on the newsstands, just kill a few more trees, but there is only 24 hours in a day and only a limited number of broadcast stations. The rule of equal time is actually equal opportunity. If candidate A is offered 30 minutes of air time on TV or radio for $1 Million, than candidate B,C,D etc. must be offered the same deal. If they can't come up w/ the money that's one thing but if the station promotes a candidate for free, they must give the same amount of free time to everyone. There is a minor exception for the news, but they still must cover all the rallies if they cover one.

Good point SmallTown! We can do without watching Arnold flicks, but asking someone to give up their Hustlers is just asking too much!

By the way, the Arnold ban only applies to California TV stations. Stations received via cable or satellite can still show The Running Man 24-hours a day if they want.:barf: Ok... maybe Predator instead.

What bothers me is the scrambled alphabet that CA is using for the electrion... all in order to overcome an unproven 5% advantage that people with their names at the top of the list are supposed to enjoy. Trying to find someone's name alphabetically is out, so that will make the ballots even more confusing.
