More Stuff Behind Locked Glass

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
A while back I made a comment about body soap being locked up behind a locked glass door in the local grocery store.

Yesterday I went into WallyMart to get a flashlight. I knew where they were specifically, in the camping area. Went there.... no flashlights. There was an employee in the aisle, so I asked him. He leads me over to another aisle and points to a big display case with a lock. For flashlights. :twitch: He had to open the case for me to look at an item I was interested in.

If things don't change, I foresee a day when you have to use an app or kiosk to select an item, and it's brought to you at the checkout. Maybe even no checkout, it's deducted immediately from your pre-approved account and sent to your home address. No more shopping as we know it, no browsing, no hands on. Some will say that's ok, but I'm old school. I want to know what it I'm buying if at all possible.

Just another reason why Amazon and Walmart dot com are getting a lot of my business now. That and the fact that local stores seem to carry a product until suddenly they don't. 😠

I think I saw mascara under lock. I left and went to Ulta. Yes, it's more expensive, but I don't feel like a criminal.

If they'd start prosecuting the thieves and the complainants would show up to testify this problem would slowly disapate .
You can arrest and charge people but if the witnesses don't show up to court it's a futile effort. I know it's a pain to have to go to court, especially with all of the continuances granted the defendants which translates to more time wasted by the honest folks who have been victimized.

When my house was robbed, I (and others affected) sat in on every trial the perp had. The prosecutor made it known that we were in attendance and it did have an effect on the outcome and sentencing.
