Did the cop shoot your dog?
Did the cop rough you up?
Did the cop lie about you in court?
Did the cop hide evidence that would exonerate you in some crime?

If not, are you sure this was really a cop?
No.

But I knew the guy, so that may have helped...

Well that's weird...

Last time I went through a checkpoint (at 6pm on a Thursday) I said hi to the cop, and I was free to go.

I wasn't detained...did I do it wrong?
HELLO???

So you are now admitting that in fact they do not "detain" you at checkpoints, and they just wave you on your way if you aren't DUI or giving them a bunch of crap?

Make up your freaking mind.

Same here... though he did ask me what was in the clear bottle in my cup holder. I simply replied, "Oh... that is sugarfree vanilla syrup I sometimes put in my diet coke." He didn't even ask to check it and sent me on my way.

They stopped me....personally, I wouldn't call it detaining.

They were just doing their job.

What the heck is the purpose of the stop then if they're going to do nothing?

Okay, and with that ignorant ass comment I'm out of this discussion. Let me know when you're ready to start building mailbox bombs so I can go get a PO Box.

Yes you did it wrong.

You should have acted all Billy Badass (as I posted) and refused to do as he asked.

But noooooo.... you were all nice to him and went along on your way.

Because the constitution has meaning to me, I’m a freak. And I’m the problem? Wow.

Does the constitution really have any meaning to you at all? At all?
Sorry Psy, maybe freak was too harsh and I apologize to you.

I believe you're making a mountain out of a mole hill and we will agree to disagree. :buddies:

That's not the point. It was a simple request and there was no valid reason for the kid to refuse, other than he wanted to be a pain in the ass and fight the powah.
It's exactly the point, we don't live in a police state where every utterance by the cop has the force of law. You are legally allowed to say no, sometimes it's a benign request,, but you can still refuse.

So what did this guy gain by "exercising his right"??

Does there have to be a gain before one exercises his rights?
Of course not.

What was his purpose? Because he can? That's real smort :nerd: Next time I want to be detained I'll just "exercise my rights".

What did he accomplish?
Here, I'll help you with this one.... NOTHING! (except being delayed)

If you stand up to the "man" and by your moral convictions, is there really anything NOT to gain?

I was in Annapolis along with thousands of others during SB281 hearings. What did I gain from that? A day off of work? No, I stood up to the powers that be that think we are just lowly civilians and they know better.

Well I sure hope he enjoyed it.

I'm curious, did the 15 minutes of fame occur while he was being detained or while his video is out there or both?
I highly doubt he was going for fame...

Either way, the video has been shared, and viewed over 3 million times...
