Morning After? No Need To Worry

And you have a problem with this why? You'd rather have welfare babies?

The wording is inflammatory in those links.

I honestly don't have a problem with it. Plan B is actually not much different than the pill bc that most women take. I'd rather have a person who questions whether she had safe sex, actually be proactive the next morning, rather than waiting 3 plus months to find out for sure and then have an abortion.

:yeahthat: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Plan B is just a highly concentrated birth control that prevents implantation. It is NOT an abortion pill. The idea of having it available in vending machines kinda makes me cringe, because I feel like you should have to see a human being to get it (such as a pharmacist or even just the nurse at the campus clinic). I can see the value of the vending machines, for timing purposes. I would go one step further and say that young women (obviously the ones who are sexually active and may see a need for this medication in the future) should have a dose of Plan B at home just in case.

I wonder whose fault it will be when a girl develops some awful cancer after years of relying on this pill to avoid the consequences of her carelessness? The drug company? The college?

Plan b is nothing but BC pills. Same thing. You can have the same effect by taking a couple of your pills and then a few more a few hours later (doc can tell you the exact amount, they did that before plan b)

College students are adults. They can surely get scripts for reg bc and can make their own choices about using plan b if they need to. I think it is great they are making it easy to get. As it stands now, you can walk into cvs and get it for about 30 bucks, this isn't that different. The cancer risk is the same as reg bc and I highly doubt that women will use it as sole bc on a regular basis, it can make bleeding super wacky and isnt desireable to use as reg BC. I don't see the issue.

umm..theres no way some woman would use such an expensive pill on a regular basis, she would just go get a script for regular BC..which by the way is linked with LOWER incidences of many reproductive cancers. its the exact same hormone.

I agree with you. :bann:

Its $50.00 a pop AND the pharmasit needs to make sure you are over 18. Although it doesn't really matter that much, it's not like they and a line full of people have to witness you take it so you dont distribute to underage girls.

On an upshot, a vending machine is a LOT more discreet than standing in line at a pharmacy explaining what you need and why and in front of a line full of people. It may prevent some unwanted pregnancies too by being more discreet.
