It's in our hymn book as well, but it was not written by Cat Stevens. He just made it a hit on one of his albums in the early 70's.

The song was written in 1931 by English author of children's stories Eleanor Farjeon, and has been in hymnals ever since..

Ditto that. I love his hypocrisy when he endorsed the fatwa against Salman Rushdie, and radio stations refused to play his songs and were destroying his records. He changed his tune real quick when he saw his income stream cut off.

He is a jerk.
