The mortgage industry isn't just hemorrhaging money anymore, it's hemorrhaging jobs. Two more mortgage lenders (Lehman Brothers Holdings and the National City Corporation) announced that they would be laying off 2,000 employees.

We should see all those "help wanted" signs coming down in the fast food joints soon. And then Bush will be on TV talking about the 12,000 new jobs that were just created after these folks get back to flipping burgers.

Carpenters, plumbers, bricklayers and electricians et al.
