I always thought this was the creed of mid-level management, and was surprised to find that Mother Teresa said it first.

Quotesoftheworld lists the author as unknown as have most of the times I have seen it published with an attribution but I do know one of our crews had it written on a plaque in the crew quarters at Roosevelt Roads, PR in late 1962. (...and they made no claim of origination!)
