My seester in law told me it's a great thinking movie that you have to really pay attention to...........I haven't seen it yet. :shrug:

This movie was based on a true story about the Mothman that was seen in Point Pleasant, WV. The movie, in my opinion, is nothing close to what was told when the Mothman supposedly was in that area.
I grew up and have family that live 30 miles from that area. I have family buried in a cemetary in Point Pleasant.
From what I was told and read about the Mothman, he was a creature that people saw, flying above there cars, standing on a hill, and i'm sure other places, but it was never proven. He had wings, red eyes and was huge and lived in the area around Point Pleasant. The building he supposedly lived in down there has since been torn down. My last visit there, I went to see if it was there still, but it's gone, which was a bummer. It was in an area called the TNT area. In that area, they have bomb like shelters in the ground where they stored ammunition. Now they are all locked, bummer again.
If you do a search for Mothman, you will find a lot of interesting information. It was never proven the Mothman was real. But cool to think he might of been real. There's not a large population there, but the area is rich in history.

The movie followed a vague path of the book. If I remember right, the book was a rundown of all paranormal activities in the WV area. It was a tough read due to the skipping around & a difficult story line. I loved the movie, Richard Gere played a great part, very believable.
