IYAMYAS!!!!!
:yeahthat: I can't find anywhere that they changed the law in CA, but lane splitting is illegal in Md. Lane sharing is legal (two motorcycles riding side by side in the same lane).

You are correct that Lane Sharing is legal in Maryland see - Section 21-1303 - Operating on laned roadways. :: 2010 Maryland Code :: US Codes and Statutes :: US Law :: Justia

2010 Maryland Code
TRANSPORTATION
TITLE 21 - VEHICLE LAWS - RULES OF THE ROAD
Subtitle 13 - Operation of Motorcycles
Section 21-1303 - Operating on laned roadways.

"(d) Driving between lanes of traffic prohibited.- A person may not operate a motorcycle between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles.

(e) Motorcycles not to be driven more than two abreast.- Motorcycles may not be operated more than two abreast in a single lane. "

How ever during the licensing training MD riders must use the given MVA Handbook and in it, it states "Don't Pair Up - Never operate directly alongside another rider"

See Page 32 of this Handbook http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Resources/DL-001.pdf

So yes it IS legal, however it is NOT recommended!

There is a SmartCar at work with a little hitch on it. Cracks me up. Why not though? I towed a boat up to Deep Creek lake behind a 85 LTD. Class 2 bumper hitch.

 I used to tow a 16 foot wood boat with a 40 HP Johnson (back when a 40 horse was HUGE...) with a '78 Subaru BRAT. 1.5L motor, stick shift. Great little car....
