That's the one you need to ride on base or get an M on your license. It's also the only free one you are going to get. Like it says, it's basic, two days. The advanced is just refining riding techniques and very little class time. Not for beginners, unless you were a fairly experienced rider you would fall down, go boom, and fail.birdman said:Is this the class you need to be able to ride on base, or is this just a standard MSF class? Oh, and I think they offer them once a month. They will throw in the advanced sometimes instead of this one, I believe.birdman said:Is this the class you need to be able to ride on base, or is this just a standard MSF class? Call Lisa, get on the scheule. Even if you don't get into a class until June, she'll call the security office and tell them when you are scheduled, then you will get a temp pass so you can ride on base until then.birdman said:Is this the class you need to be able to ride on base, or is this just a standard MSF class? Why not? Even though they are free, I thought they were both MSF courses, the same as you'd take at CSM or elsewhere.Roughidle said:I'll mention here for those not in the know...the free PAX River course will Not waiver you from the road course test if you are applying for your Maryland endorsement. The advanced course yes is 1 day versus the 2 day basic course.
The courses are the same and I believe one of the instructors teaches both. For whatever reason, the State of Maryland won't recognize the PAX course. Probably a $$ thing...ain't they all?itsbob said:Why not? Even though they are free, I thought they were both MSF courses, the same as you'd take at CSM or elsewhere.
I guess I put out some bad info, glad you caught it.Roughidle said:The courses are the same and I believe one of the instructors teaches both. For whatever reason, the State of Maryland won't recognize the PAX course. Probably a $$ thing...ain't they all?
I thought too that it seemed odd but that's how Pax Safety explained it to me. Probably should check with them and see if that has changed or not. The instructors at the time that I took it said that they too couldn't understand why it shouldn't be as valid as the course offered through CSM.desertrat said:I guess I put out some bad info, glad you caught it.
The MSF course includes the written and practical tests for a Maryland Motorcycle license. The Pax course is just a base safety course to ride on the base. Pax, however, will accept the MSF course to satisfy their requirement.Roughidle said:I thought too that it seemed odd but that's how Pax Safety explained it to me. Thanks, I had assumed they were the same course, just that Pax absorbed the cost.Vince said:The MSF course includes the written and practical tests for a Maryland Motorcycle license. Silly Pete. I told you I'd lend you the Rebel.Pete said:I wonder if I should take it on my Ultra classic?
They will indeed let you on with a permit. You can obtain a temp pass if you have proof that you are enrolled to take the base safety course. Ofcourse you must comply with all the permit restrictions and this may only apply to active duty personnel, I'm not sure.aps45819 said:I doubt if Pax would let you on base without a valid license, so there is no need for their course to be accepted by MD
