Mouse cleaning

But wait, there's more...
If your mouse is 'sticking' ... use a pencil eraser to clean the little rollers inside that rub on the ball.

Unless you have one of those cool laser mice. :ohwell:

 Your mouse has sticky balls? Do I really want to "go there?"

I said "BALL" folks! Not "BALLS"

If you ever crack open your mouse, and take out the ball, there are these three roller type dealy-bobs in there. After awhile, there's a funk build-up on them that, if you take a pencil with an eraser, and rub those rollers cross-ways, it'll knock that gunk off and turn your mouse ball into a 'smooth operator' again.

I have a neutered mouse... It's tail was docked too. :ohwell:

how do you like it? are you satisfied with its performance? does it ever malfunction? I'm curious about how reliable they really are when they are cut off from a continuous power source. :bubble:

I have a logitec MX700 cordless optical mouse. It is a bit expensive ($70), but I like it a lot. Its extremely smooth and comfortable to use. I never have any connection problems and it has the two buttons on the side for forward and back on a browser. Only real irritant is that I had to play with it to make contact when I put it on the charger when it was new.

If you leave it on the charger when not in use you should not have any problems with it going dead. It seems to last a good 18 to 24 hours before needing recharging. I have had the battery warning light come on (it flashes) a few times, but I'm not in the habit of leaving it on the charger. I keep a ps2 port mouse plugged in as a backup, but I really don't like having to use it. It feels like switching from a cadillac to a yugo.

My mother has a cordless optical mouse that uses regular aa batteries. The batteries seem to last a good month and the mouse just dies when they go dead. But you just pop two more in and your good to go.
